40th celebrations.
The fun was entertainment was not dented in any way by the late loss of the close game in Parsonstown on Saturday. A robust game between the two oldest rivals was always a close encounter including a 0-0 result at the half way stage. After swapping penalties late in the second half the game was poised on 3 points each when Leo Quinn gave us a piece of magic and a little crawling along the ground to secure a fine try. At eight points to three it looked like Barnhall could get the icing on the cake with a win in the Leinster league cup game. This was not to be however when an injury time try for Naas and an excellent conversion put a different gloss on the day. Naas won by 10 points to 8 and possibly deserved the win based on a more solid last 20 minutes.
The evening celebrations were particularly entertaining made more so by the large crowed which was considerably bolstered by the ladies post the Barnhall V Garda game which kicked off at 4.30. The girls had a very entertaining game against a strong Garda outfit. But lost 5 - 7.
Barnhall Local Lotto.
The first Barnhall lotto kicked off on Saturday with no winner of the main prize. 67 people pledged support for Barnhall by entering for multiple draws and two lucky players Brian Quigley & Caleb Kyle who came away with 25 euro prizes. Many thanks to Conor Anderson who gave so much of his time over the past three weeks to ensure this fund raising activity was a success. Conor single handily signed up the majority of players for the online draw and without his dedication and efforts we would not have reached our first milestone. Thanks to Conor, Pickle, Padraic for there efforts and thanks to all who participated in the draw.
Barnhall Business breakfast.
We have over 45 businesses signed up for this Fridays business networking event Registration is between 7.30 am and 8.00 am and this networking will finish at 9.15 sharp. We would expect this strong showing will help to develop good business networks and result in good business being transacted in the coming weeks as a direct result of this event. There is still time to participate. Just send an email to Noel.dillon@sophix .ie or to pro@barnhallrfc.com and get registered for this business development activity.
Barnhall J4/J5's
Barnhall J4/J5 made a great start to the season with a convincing 43-0 victory over Stillorgan at Bird Avenue on Saturday 5 th September. With a huge number of players still on holidays and playing GAA championship (and injured from the tag rugby season, hang your heads in shame lads!), it was a great opportunity to see some new players that have joined our club. The new and the old (not the young and the old!) gelled well running in 6 tries, converting 5 in addition to a penalty. The performance bodes well for the season as Stillorgan will provide opposition at both J4 and J5 level when the leagues commence.
