Barnhall Blunder gifts victory to Carlow.
Co Carlow Football Club 11 Barnhall RFC 9. 1st of December 2008

Barnhall enjoyed the most promising start of the season so far with a fast passed opening twenty minutes against Co Carlow in Oak Park last Saturday.
Carlow suffered a significant setback just before kickoff when influential prop Padraig Brennan was injured in the warm up. His two from row partners Joe Gorman and Larry McGrath did a lot of hard work in the opening phases which Barnhall countered very efficiently. Ray Dufficy started as a replacement for Captain Jim Nolan with Jason van Houte taking over the leadership duties on the day. Dufficy had a very fine game as did his brother Colm whose work around the field and his line out throwing were the basis of excellent possession throughout the game ...more

Barnhall gifted a bonus as Corinthians canter to victory

A slow start and a series of early missed tackles established a lead that Barnhall could not catch in a keenly contested game at Parsonstown on Saturday. Indeed Barnhall were not alone in the slow start as the entire first half was played at a slow pace by both teams. Corinthians were given a free reign in the opening ten minutes. After only three minutes the visitors were give the first of many penalty opportunities at close range and Wayne Williams squandered the chance. The visitors had only a further three minutes to wait before Richard Forbes combined with Donal Murphy and Shane Geraghty for the first score of the day. Williams was unable to add the conversion and so the visitors opened a slender lead of 5 points to nil. Captain Paul Cunningham, should have increased his sides tally two minutes later but flung the ball forward while charging down the left wing. Barnhall won the resultant scrum and lifted the siege with some telling work from Oliver Savrin and Mana Harrison looking dangerous in attack...more

Barnhall could do little to prevent an early haul of points by Middleton after a blistering opening ten minutes of play by the home side. Jason Holland directed the most of the play from the no. 10 berth and a combination of powerful forward surges and quick hands allowed Middleton to build up a thirteen point to 0 lead after only ten minutes of this high class encounter at Towns Park in Middleton on Saturday ...more
