Welcome to N.U.I.M Rugby

Marcus Doyle
President

I am Marcus Doyle and I am the President of NUI Maynooth. This is my second time being elected as President so I will try use my experience of the previous term, my experience of sitting on the committee and as captain. My job is to work with our Rugby Developement Officer and organise my commitee in running the affairs of the club.
When I arrived in 02/03 I was privileged to be part of a successful club. There were many experienced players and committee members. I played with the mens team which reached the ICRU Div.2 Final. The womens team reached the semi-final of the ISSA Colleges League. In this year one of our women received the university Sports Person of the Year. The club won: Club of the Year.
We've have been unlucky in the last few years with teams only playing to the best of their ability at the end of the session. Now with new players coming in every year, we are aiming to progress back to being the best club in the university.
Last year the mens finished joint 2nd in the ICRU Div.2 East League and the ladies reached the semi-final of the ISSA Colleges League.
With the introduction of our experienced Rugby Development Officer: John Bagnall and our new campus pitch, the future of the rugby club looks very exciting.
The social life around the club is also very enjoyable with both the men's and women's teams interacting. I look forward to working with everyone in the coming year.
