NUIM Womens XV
Susan Cagney
Vice President
The ladies NUI Maynooth Rugby team has gone from strength to strength over the past number of years, with last ear beiung particularly successful reaching the Semi-final of the all Ireland colleges league. This year already looks promising with a good turnout at our first few training sessions with lots of first years getting involved. There are endless reasons why girls join rugby in NUIM. They play for their love of the game, or because it's a great sport that can help improve fitness and agility. Also, unlike a number of field and team sports in college, it's a sport that welcomes a large number of beginners onto the team and teaches the sport from a complete novice level. This leaves it open to anybody that is actually interested. Although these are all good reasons to join, the main reason people actually stay is because of the fun, the friends, the grittiness of matches and, last but not least, the nights out after! With the league being run by the IWRFU this year, it's sure to get interesting with many matches. There is also the intervarsities and perhaps a tour abroad to look forward to! We're always looking for new players, previous playing is not necessary. Girls that joined after Christmas last year will vouch for that! So, if you're interested in playing, the training times are listed below announcning match times etc. Also we are hosting a toga party Fundraiser in Brady's (B2) ON 6 TH November, tickets on sale from John Bagnall's Office (in the sports complex) or phone Grace 087 7811644, and you're all invited!!! Training times
- Monday meet outside canteen at 6pm
- Wednesday Meet at the Rhetoric Dressing Room (between logic & Rhetoric) at 5pm .
